Juniors Section
Alnmouth Golf Club has a very active junior section of around 50 members making it one of the largest sections in Northumberland.
We offer a range competitions and coaching sessions for a wide range of age groups as part of the annual subscription. Younger players are introduced to the basics of the game and more advanced sessions are then offered as players develop.
As our juniors progress they are encouraged to attain a nationally recognised handicap and play in the senior club competitions. Indeed over the last few years the junior section has boasted many club competition winners. The Club also organises a series of fun friendly get togethers with local Clubs in the area to add to their golfing experences. When we feel individual juniors have the relevant experience we encourage them to compete in county events and junior opens throughout the summer.
Junior Coaching
Free weekly members coaching sessions are run each Sunday – the emphasis is focused on the juniors enjoying their day. The coaching is carried out by our Assistant PGA Golf Professional, James Seedhouse assisted by a group of registered volunteers. Children aged 8 years or under must be accompanied by a parent / guardian and all other juniors are supervised.
The coaching days usually comprises of three units: coaching, playing on either the main course, the short course or tri-golf and a putting competition. Children are assessed and allocated groups in accordance with their age and ability. Session times for each of the groups are published in advance on the Junior Notice board and within the junior section of the website. We operate a more relaxed dress code for our ‘somewhat younger’ juniors as a friendly introduction to the club and the junior section has its own club rules.
