Junior Club Programme for 2010
As we look forward to the golfing season we welcome all Junior members both new and existing.
We intend to follow the pattern established over the past few years, with a series of coaching and competition sessions on Tuesdays during school holidays, with the first commencing on Tuesday 6th April. Participation will also take place in inter-club league matches and in other junior events, such as the Blythe Cup, Eclipse Trophy, Scott Cup and Junior Championship. We are hoping to increase the number of competitions throughout the season – please check the notice board for competition updates.  These are all designed to introduce young players to the many aspects of the game of golf, on and off the course, and to encourage them to realise their potential. Those Juniors who have attained Club handicaps are also entitled to play in most club competitions, and indeed are encouraged to do so.
A copy of the programme for 2010 is enclosed together with a copy of the Club’s rules as they apply to Juniors. Both of these documents appear on the Junior Notice Board (JNB).
With regard to the Club’s rules may I draw your attention to the Dress Code which has been introduced to all sections of AGC by the General Committee. For those Juniors who are “somewhat younger” and attending the coaching and competition days and element of dispensation will be allowed. Any parent or guardian who would like clarification, or indeed wish to discuss this, please refer to the Junior Organiser or any member of the Junior Committee. May we also highlight in view of a number of queries: General Play (Bye-law 19): There is no restriction on play on the course by Junior Members, providing they are age 14 years. This age limit is very important for the protection of children that they are not left unaccompanied on the course below this age. Your understanding of this criteria will be appreciated.
In caring for the best interests of your children it is important that we know whether they suffer from any medical conditions, illnesses or allergies or whether they are currently receiving medical treatment of any kind. The EGU/EWGA, Northumberland Junior Golfing Association and Alnmouth Golf Club continue to take welfare and safety of your child very seriously, and it is essential that we have the above information recorded every season before anyone can take part in coaching or competitions. It is doubly important in 2010 as the Club we be reapplying for the Golf Mark Award.
May we therefore please request that you complete the enclosed pro-forma and return it to the Secretary’s office as soon as possible.

It is recommended that the JNB is monitored for details of events, matches and the schedule for coaching each Tuesday. With regard to the latter, Juniors will be placed in groups of similar ability for coaching at set times, and wherever possible these times will be retained for each session. Please note however changes may be necessary, to assist our professional coach Mrs Linzi Hardy, due to numbers attending and as individuals improve their skills we ask that you attend 10 minutes before your session starts.

We are pleased to advise you that the Junior Captain for 2010 is Mr Alex Stevenson.
Many thanks to Mr Mattie Robson for upholding this role in 2009.
